122 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding: "And when it is said to them, 'Do not cause corruption upon the earth,' they say, 'We are but reformers.'" As for "Do not cause corruption upon the earth," corruption is disbelief and performing acts of disobedience. It is narrated from Qatadah and al-Rabi' ibn Anas something similar to this statement of Abu al-'Aliyah.

The second aspect:

123 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj and 'Isa ibn Yunus—the phrasing being that of Waki'—both said: Al-A'mash narrated to us, from al-Minhal, from 'Abbad ibn 'Abd Allah al-Asadi, from Salman regarding: "And when it is said to them, 'Do not cause corruption upon the earth,' they say, 'We are but reformers.'" Salman said: The people of this verse have not yet come.

Allah says: "Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not."

His saying, Exalted is He: "Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not."

125 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad al-'Asqalani narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not," he said: They are the hypocrites.

His saying: "And when it is said to them, 'Believe'

126 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' Abu Kurayb narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Zayyat narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And when it is said to them, 'Believe as the people have believed,'" he says: When it is said to them, "Affirm your faith."
