His saying: "Those are the losers."

298 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, via him, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan: "Those are the losers" in the Hereafter.

299 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim Abu Wahb informed us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan: His saying: "Those are the losers" in the Hereafter. He says: They are the people of the Fire.

His saying: "How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead and He brought you to life?"

300 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman—meaning Ibn Mahdi—narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abdullah: They said: "Our Lord, You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice." He said: It is that which is in al-Baqarah: "You were dead and He brought you to life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you to life."

It was also narrated from al-Dahhak, 'Ata', and the like.

301 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr—meaning Ibn 'Umarah—narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Our Lord, You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice," he said: You were dust before He created you, and this is a death. Then He brought you to life and created you, and this is a life. Then He will cause you to die, so you will return to the graves, and this is another death. Then He will resurrect you on the Day of Resurrection, and this is a life. So they are two deaths and two lives. This is His saying: "How can you disbelieve in Allah while you were dead and He brought you to life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you to life."

302 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Hisham ibn Yusuf informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas: "You were dead and He brought you to life" in the loins of your fathers, you were nothing until He created you. Then He will cause you to die the true death, then He will bring you to life when He resurrects you. He said: And it is like His saying: "You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice." It was narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah, al-Hasan al-Basri, Abu Salih, al-Suddi, and Qatadah the like of this.

His saying: "Then to Him you will be returned"

303 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah: "Then to Him you will be returned," he said: You will be returned to Him after life.
