From Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And believe in what I have sent down, confirming that which is with you," he says: [Believe] in the Quran I have sent down, confirming the Gospel which is with you. He said: It is also narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas and Qatadah similar to the statement of Abu al-'Aliyah.
His saying: "And do not be the first to disbelieve in it."
446 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And do not be the first to disbelieve in it," while you possess knowledge of it that others do not possess.
447 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "And do not be the first to disbelieve in it," he says: Do not be the first to disbelieve in Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
448 - My father narrated to me, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hamzah informed me, he said: I heard my father say, Abu Sinan narrated to us, regarding His saying: "And do not be the first to disbelieve in it," he said: It was revealed regarding the Jews of Yathrib. Abu Muhammad said: It is also narrated from al-Hasan, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas similar to the statement of Abu al-'Aliyah.
His saying: "And do not trade My verses for a small price, and of Me alone be fearful."
449 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "And do not trade My verses for a small price," he says: Do not accept a fee for it. He said: It is written in their First Book: O son of Adam, teach for free just as you were taught for free.
His saying: "My verses."
450 - Mentioned from al-Hasan ibn 'Ali al-Hulwani, from Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam, Ibn Lahi'ah informed me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "And do not trade My verses for a small price," [he said]: His verses are His Book that He sent down to them, and the small price is the world and its desires.
His saying: "A small price."
[The First Aspect]
451 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "And do not trade My verses for a small price," he says: Do not accept a small bribe and conceal the name of Allah; for that bribe is the price.

عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» قَوْلُهُ: وَآمِنُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلْتُ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا مَعَكُمْ يَقُولُ: بِمَا أَنْزَلْتُ الْقُرْآنَ، لِمَا مَعَكُمُ الإِنْجِيلَ- قَالَ: وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَقَتَادَةَ نَحْوُ قَوْلِ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ.

٤٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ فِيمَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: وَلا تَكُونُوا أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍ بِهِ وَعِنْدَكُمْ فِيهِ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَ غَيْرِكُمْ.
٤٤٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَكُونُوا أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍ بِهِ يَقُولُ: لَا تَكُونُوا أَوَّلَ مَنْ كَفَرَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
٤٤٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ثنا أَبُو سِنَانٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَكُونُوا أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍ بِهِ قَالَ: أُنْزِلَتْ فِي يَهُودِ يَثْرِبَ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ:
وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ نَحْوُ قَوْلِ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَلا تَشْتَرُوا بِآيَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا وَإِيَّايَ فَاتَّقُونِ
٤٤٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَشْتَرُوا بِآيَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا يَقُولُ: لَا تَأْخُذُوا عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا، قَالَ:
وَهُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَهُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ الأَوَّلِ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، عَلِّمْ مَجَّانًا كَمَا عُلِّمْتَ مَجَّانَا.
قَوْلُهُ: بِآيَاتِي
٤٥٠ - ذُكِرَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَشْتَرُوا بِآيَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا وَإِنَّ آيَاتِهِ كِتَابُهُ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَإِنَّ الثَّمَنَ الْقَلِيلَ هُوَ الدُّنْيَا وَشَهَوَاتُهَا.

٤٥١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ: وَلا تَشْتَرُوا بِآيَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا يَقُولُ لَا تَأْخُذُوا طَمَعًا قَلِيلا وَتَكْتُمُوا «٢» اسْمَ اللَّهِ، فَذَلِكَ الطَّمَعُ وَهُوَ الثَّمَنُ.
