He said: 'Their chests are homes for you, and you will run through them as blood runs.' He said: 'O Lord, increase me.' He said: 'Assault them with your cavalry and your infantry, and partner with them in wealth and children, and promise them; and Satan does not promise them except delusion.' Adam, peace be upon him, said: 'O Lord, You have given him authority over me, and I cannot resist him except through You.' He said: 'No child will be born to you except that I will appoint someone to protect him from the devil's associates.' He said: 'O Lord, increase me.' He said: 'A good deed is [rewarded as] ten or more, and a bad deed is one, or I shall erase it.' He said: 'O Lord, increase me.' He said: 'The door of repentance is open as long as the soul is in the body.' He said: 'O Lord, increase me.' He said: 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'That a soul should say, "Oh, how I regret over what I neglected..."
18405 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'That a soul should say, "Oh, how I regret over what I neglected..."' to the end of the verses. He said: 'Allah, glorified be He, informed [us] of what the servants will say before they say it, and of their deeds before they do them, and none can inform you like one who is expert: "That a soul should say, 'Oh, how I regret over what I neglected in the regard of Allah, though I was among the mockers.'" He says: "The created beings will say: 'Or [a soul] should say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous." Or [a soul] should say, when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another turn so I could be among the doers of good."" He means: 'Among the guided.' So Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, informed [us] that if they were sent back, they would not be able to attain guidance. Allah the Exalted says: "But if they were returned, they would return to that which they were forbidden; and indeed, they are liars." And He said: "And We will turn their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time." He said: 'And if they were returned to the world, a barrier would be placed between them and the guidance, just as We placed [a barrier] between them and it the first time in the world.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth.'
18405 - Yazid ibn Sinan al-Basri narrated to us in Egypt, Yahya ibn Hammad narrated to us, al-Aghlab ibn Tamim narrated to us, from Mujallad ibn Hudhayl al-'Abdi, from Abd al-Rahman al-Madani, from Abdullah ibn Umar, from Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, that he asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about the interpretation of 'To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth.' He said: 'No one has asked me about it before you, O Uthman.' He said: 'Its interpretation is: "There is no deity but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and Glory be to Allah and His praise, I seek forgiveness from Allah, and there is no power except by Allah; the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden; in His hand is all good; He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent." Whoever says it, O Uthman, when he wakes up ten times, he is granted six qualities: As for the first of them, he is guarded from Iblis and his soldiers. As for the second, he is given a qintar (a massive measure) of reward. As for the third, a degree is raised for him in Paradise. As for the fourth, he marries one of the Houris. As for the fifth, twelve angels attend him. As for the sixth, he is given the reward of one who has read the Quran, the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms. And along with this, O Uthman, he has the reward of one who has performed Hajj and his Hajj was accepted, and performed Umrah and his Umrah was accepted. And if he dies on that day, he is sealed with the seal of the martyrs.'
18406 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: 'To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth,' he said: 'Its treasuries.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'And they have not appraised Allah with true appraisal.'
18406 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: 'The Jews spoke about the attributes of the Lord and said what they did not know and what they did not see, so Allah sent down: "And they have not appraised Allah with true appraisal."
18407 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: 'The Jews looked into the creation of the heavens, the earth, and the angels, and when they deviated, they began to measure Him [by their own reasoning], so Allah sent down: "And they have not appraised Allah with true appraisal."
18408 - From al-Rabi' ibn Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: 'When [the verse] "His Kursi (Footstool) extends over the heavens and the earth" was revealed, they said: "O Messenger of Allah, if this is the Kursi, then what about the Throne (Arsh)?" So Allah sent down: "And they have not appraised Allah with true appraisal."
18409 - From Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited this verse one day upon the pulpit: "And they have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand." And the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was saying like this with his hand, moving it back and forth, "The Lord glorifies Himself: I am the Almighty, I am the All-Proud, I am the Generous." The pulpit shook with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, until we said it would surely fall with him.'
