18435 - Abu Sa'id narrated to us, al-Muharibi narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Tharwan, from Huzayl, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The souls of the martyrs are in the bellies of green birds that roam in Paradise wherever they wish. And the souls of the children of the believers are in the bellies of birds that roam in Paradise wherever they wish, then they take shelter in lamps hanging from the Throne.

And the souls of the family of Pharaoh are in the bellies of black birds that go out to Hell and return to it [in the morning and evening], and that is their being presented [before the fire].

His saying, the Almighty: "Admit the family of Pharaoh into the severest punishment."

18436 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Zayd ibn Akhram narrated to us, 'Amir ibn Mudrik al-Harithi narrated to us, 'Utbah—meaning ibn Yaqzan—narrated to us, from Qays ibn Muslim, from Tariq, from Shihab, from Ibn Mas'ud, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: "No doer of good, whether Muslim or disbeliever, does a good deed except that Allah rewards him for it." He said: We asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is the reward of the disbeliever? He replied: "If he maintained ties of kinship, gave charity, or performed a good deed, Allah rewards him with wealth, children, health, and similar things." We asked: Then what is his reward in the Hereafter? He replied: "A punishment less than the [severest] punishment." And he recited: "Admit the family of Pharaoh into the severest punishment."

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, We will support Our messengers."

18437 - From Abu al-'Aliyah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Indeed, We will support Our messengers," he said: That is in terms of the argument; Allah makes their argument prevail in the world.

18438 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding this verse, he said: Allah did not send [anyone] to them who would support them by seeking vengeance for their blood from those who did that to them in the world, while they were supported [by the truth] therein.

His saying, the Almighty: "The witnesses."

18439 - From Zayd ibn Aslam, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: The witnesses are four: the angels
