His saying, the Almighty: "Ha, Mim. 'Ayn, Sin, Qaf."
18464 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, while Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with him, was with him. He said: "Inform me about the interpretation of 'Ha, Mim. 'Ayn, Sin, Qaf'." He turned away from him. He then repeated his question, and he turned away from him. He then repeated it a third time, but he did not answer him. Hudhayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him: "I will inform you of it. Why you repeated it is that it was revealed concerning a man from his family, who is called 'Abd Allah or 'Abd Allah, who will descend upon a river from the rivers of the East. He will build two cities upon it, with the river splitting the space between them. Every obstinate tyrant will gather in them. When Allah permits the end of their kingdom and the cessation of their dynasty and their tenure, Allah will send a fire upon one of them by night. It will become black and dark, having burned as if it had never been in its place, and its companion will wake up wondering how it was destroyed! That will be during the light of its day, until every obstinate tyrant among them gathers in it, then Allah will cause it and all of them to disappear. That is justice from Him. 'Sin' means: it will be. 'Qaf' means: it will befall these two cities."
His saying, the Almighty: "The heavens almost break from above them."
18465 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding "The heavens almost break from above them," he said: "From those who are above them." Khusayf recited it with a shaddah on the ta'.
His saying, the Almighty: "He multiplies you therein."
18466 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "He multiplies you therein," he said: "Generation after generation of people and livestock."
His saying, the Almighty: "There is no [further] argument between us and you."
18467 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying, the Almighty: "There is no [further] argument between us and you," he said: "There is no courtship."
