His saying, the Almighty: "And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, surely exalted and full of wisdom."

18494 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said: "Indeed, the first thing Allah created was the Pen, and He commanded it to write what is to be until the Day of Resurrection, and the Book is with Him." Then he recited: "And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, surely exalted and full of wisdom."

His saying, the Almighty: "Then shall We set aside the Message from you, disregarding it?"

18495 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us from Qatadah regarding: "Then shall We set aside the Message from you, disregarding it?" He said: "By Allah, if this Quran had been lifted when the early ones of this Ummah rejected it, they would have perished. But Allah returned with His favor and His mercy, and He repeated it to them and called them to it."

His saying, the Almighty: "Because you have been a transgressing people."

18496 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us from Qatadah regarding: "Because you have been a transgressing people," meaning: polytheists.

His saying, the Almighty: "And we were not [able] to control it."

18497 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And we were not [able] to control it," he said: "Able to control it."

His saying, the Almighty: "And they have made the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females."

18498 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "I used to read this word 'the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females.' I asked Ibn Abbas, and he said: 'servants of the Most Merciful.' I said: 'But it is in my codex "with the Most Merciful."' He said: 'Erase it and write it: servants of the Most Merciful (ibad al-rahman), with an alif and a ba.' He then said: 'A man came to me today, and I wished he had not come, and he said: How do you read this word?'"
