18632 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying, "Not a word does he utter," until the end of the verse, he said: Everything he speaks of good or evil is recorded, to the extent that it is even recorded that he said: I ate, I drank, I went, I came, I saw. Then, when it is Thursday, his words and deeds are presented, so He confirms what was in it of good or evil and discards the rest. That is His saying, "Allah eliminates what He wills and confirms [what He wills]."(3)
18633 - From the path of 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying, "Not a word does he utter, but there is a watcher by him ready [to record]," he said: Only good and evil are recorded; [the statement] "O servant, saddle the horse" and "O servant, give me water to drink" are not recorded.(4)

18636 - From Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Indeed, the son of Adam is in heedlessness regarding that for which he was created. If Allah wills his creation, He says to the angel: Write his provision, write his footprints, write his lifespan, write whether he is wretched or blessed. Then that angel ascends, and Allah sends an angel to guard him until he reaches maturity. Then that angel ascends, and Allah appoints over him"
