His saying, the Almighty: "And for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens."
18742 - From Abu al-Darda', that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: "And for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens." I said: "Even if he committed adultery or theft, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said it a second time: "And for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens." I said: "Even if he committed adultery or theft?" He said it a third time: "And for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens." I said: "Even if he committed adultery or theft?" He said: "Yes, even if the nose of Abu al-Darda' is rubbed in the dust." (1)
18743 - From al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The gardens of Firdaws are four: two gardens of gold, their adornments, their vessels, and what is within them; and two gardens of silver, their adornments, their vessels, and what is within them. And nothing remains between the people and their looking at their Lord except the mantle of majesty upon His Face in the Garden of Eden." (2)
His saying, the Almighty: "Having spreading branches."
He said: Possessing colors.
18744 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muslim ibn Qutaybah narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Nu'man narrated to us, I heard 'Ikrimah saying: "Having spreading branches," he says: The shade of the branches over the walls. (3)
His saying, the Almighty: "And the fruit of the two gardens will be within reach."
18745 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "And the fruit of the two gardens will be within reach," he said: Its fruit is its produce, and the 'Dani' (within reach) is that which is near to you; the standing and the sitting can reach it. (4)
His saying, the Almighty: "In them are women limiting their glances."
18746 - al-Fadl ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj said: 'Ata' al-Khurasani informed me, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "In them are women limiting their glances," he said: Limiting their glances to their husbands, not seeing anyone other than them; by Allah, they are neither displaying their charms nor gazing elsewhere.
