Then, behold the faces of the men. He said: He said, 'Are you satisfied?' I said: 'I have become satisfied, O Lord.' He said, 'Look to the horizon on your left,' and behold the faces of the men. He said, 'Are you satisfied?' I said, 'I am satisfied, O Lord.' He said, 'For with these are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without account.' He said: And 'Ukkashah ibn Mihsan from the tribe of Asad stood up—Sa'id said: 'And he was a veteran of Badr'—and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, pray to Allah that He may make me one of them.' He said, so he prayed: 'O Allah, make him one of them.' He said: Another man stood up and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, pray to Allah that He may make me one of them.' He said, so he replied: 'Ukkashah has beaten you to it.' He said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'If you are able—may my father and mother be sacrificed for you—to be among the people of the seventy thousand, then do so. If not, then be among the people of the mountain passes (al-zirab). If not, then be among the people of the horizon, for I have seen many people who have thronged around it.' Then he said: 'I truly hope that you are a quarter of the people of Paradise,' so we pronounced the greatness of Allah (Takbir). Then he said: 'I truly hope that you are a third of the people of Paradise,' so we pronounced the greatness of Allah. He said: 'I truly hope that you are half of the people of Paradise,' so we pronounced the greatness of Allah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: 'A group from the former [peoples] and a group from the later [peoples].' He said: We said among ourselves, 'Who are these seventy thousand?' We said, 'They are those who were born in Islam and did not associate partners with Allah.' He said: This reached him, and he said: 'Rather, they are those who do not use cautery, do not seek incantations, do not practice augury, and trust in their Lord.' (1)
His saying, the Almighty: "And a shade of black smoke."
18795 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "And a shade of black smoke," he said: From black smoke. And in another wording: From the smoke of Hell. (2)
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, they were before that, indulged in affluence."
18796 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Indeed, they were before that, indulged in affluence," he said: Luxuriating. "And they used to persist in the great violation," he said: In the great sin. (3)
His saying, the Almighty: "Drinking as thirsty camels drink."
18797 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Drinking as thirsty camels drink," he said: The thirsty camels. (4)

فَإِذَا وُجُوهُ الرِّجَالِ. قَالَ: قَالَ: أَرَضِيتَ؟ قَالَ: قلت: قَدْ رَضِيتُ، رَبِّ. قَالَ انْظُرْ إِلَى الْأُفِقِ، عَنْ يَسَارِكَ، فَإِذَا وُجُوهُ الرِّجَالِ. قَالَ: أَرَضِيتَ؟ قُلْتُ رَضِيتُ رَبَّ قَالَ:
فَإِنَّ مَعَ هَؤُلاءِ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا، يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ ... بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ» قَالَ: وَأَنْبَأَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ: وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا- قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ» قَالَ: أَنْشَأَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ، قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ: «سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ» قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ- فِدَاكُمْ أَبِي وَأُمِّي- أَنْ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ السَّبْعِينَ فَافْعَلُوا، وَإِلا فَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الظِّرَابِ، وَإِلا فَكُونُوا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْأُفُقِ، فَإِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ نَاسًا كَثِيرًا قَدْ تَأَشَّيُوا حَوْلُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنِّي لارْجُو إِنَّ تَكُونُوا ربع أهل الجنة» فكبرنا، ثُمَّ قَالَ «إني لأرجو إِنَّ تكونوا ثلث أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» قَالَ: فَكَبَرَّنَا. قَالَ: «إِنِّي لارْجُو إِنَّ تَكُونُوا نِصْف أَهْل الْجَنَّة» قَالَ: فَكَبَّرْنَا، ثُمَّ تَلا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا بَيْنَنَا: مَنْ هَؤُلاءِ السَّبْعُونَ أَلْفًا؟ فَقُلْنَا: هُمُ الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا فِي الْإِسْلامِ، وَلَمْ يُشْرِكُوا قَالَ: فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «بَلْ هُمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَكْوُونَ وَلا يَسْتَرِقُونَ وَلا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ» «١» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ
١٨٧٩٥ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ قَالَ:
مِنْ دُخَانٍ أَسْوَدَ. وَفِي لَفْظٍ: مِنْ دُخَانِ جَهَنَّمَ «٢» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
١٨٧٩٦ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ قَالَ: مُنَعَّمِينَ وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِ قَالَ: عَلَى الذَّنْبِ الْعَظِيمِ «٣» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ
١٨٧٩٧ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عنهما في قوله: شرب الهيم قال: الإبل العطاش «٤» .
