His saying, the Almighty: "Then lead him."

18975 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "Then lead him," he said: "It is passed through his posterior until it emerges from his nostrils, so that he cannot stand upon his feet."

His saying, the Almighty: "Ghislin [purulent filth]."

18976 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: "I do not know what Ghislin is, but I think it is Zaqqūm [the infernal tree]."

18977 - From the path of ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: "Ghislin is the blood and water that flows from their flesh."

18978 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Manṣūr ibn Abī Muzāḥim narrated to us, [saying]: Abū Saʿīd al-Muʾaddib narrated to us, from Khuṣayf, from Mujāhid, from Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: "I do not know what Ghislin is, but I think it is Zaqqūm."

His saying, the Almighty: "...a regret [for the disbelievers]."

18979 - From the path of al-Suddī, from Abī Mālik: "And indeed, it is a regret for the disbelievers," he says: "It is a source of remorse." He links the return of the pronoun to the Qur'an, meaning: "The Qur'an and belief in it are, in reality, a source of regret for the disbelievers," just as He said: "Likewise have We inserted it into the hearts of the criminals. They will not believe in it." And the Almighty said: "And something will be placed as a barrier between them and what they desire."

His saying, the Almighty: "Then We would have cut from him the aorta."

18980 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "Then We would have cut from him the aorta," he said: "It is the cord of the heart which is in the back."

18981 - Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to us, [saying]: Muʿāwiyah ibn Hishām narrated to us, [saying]: Sufyān—that is, al-Thawrī—narrated to us, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾiq, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "The aorta," he said: "The ligament of the heart."

18982 - From Ḥuṣayn ibn ʿAbd Allāh, he said: Ibn ʿAbbās said: "When a human being is at the point of death, the Angel of Death comes to him and squeezes his aorta. Once the aorta is severed, his soul departs; that is the moment when his sight becomes fixed, and his soul follows it."
