Sūrat Nūḥ

71

His saying, the Almighty: "Waqāran (dignity)."

18993 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "What is the matter with you, that you do not hope for dignity from God?" He said: "You do not acknowledge the true greatness of God."

18994 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "What is the matter with you, that you do not hope for dignity from God?" He said: "You do not fear the greatness of God."

18995 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "What is the matter with you, that you do not hope for dignity from God?" He said: "You do not fear His punishment, nor do you hope for His reward."

His saying, the Almighty: "Waddan."

18996 - My father narrated to us, Abū ʿUmar al-Dūrī narrated to us, Abū Ismāʿīl al-Muʾaddib narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muslim ibn Hurmuz, from Abū Ḥirzah, from ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, who said:

Adam (peace be upon him) fell ill, and with him were his children: Wadd, Yaghūth, Suwāʿ, and Nasr. Wadd was the eldest of them and the most righteous toward him.

18997 - Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to us, al-Ḥasan ibn Mūsā narrated to us, Yaʿqūb narrated to us, from Abū al-Muṭahhar, who said: They mentioned Yazīd ibn al-Muhallab in the presence of Abū Jaʿfar while he was standing in prayer. He said: When he turned from his prayer, he said: "You mentioned Yazīd ibn al-Muhallab? Know that he was killed in the first land where something other than God was worshipped." He said: Then he mentioned Wadd and said: "Wadd was a Muslim man and was beloved among his people. So when he died..."
