His (Exalted is He) saying: "The majesty of our Lord"

18999 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding the saying of the Exalted: "And that the majesty of our Lord (Jaddu Rabbinā) is exalted," he said: His command and His power.

19000 - Abū Saʿīd Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us, Wahb ibn Jarīr narrated to us, my father narrated to us, al-Zubayr ibn al-Khirrīt narrated to us from ʿIkrimah, who said: The jinn used to fear humans just as humans fear them, or even more. When humans would descend into a valley, the jinn would flee, and the leader of the people would say: "I seek refuge in the lord of this valley." The jinn said: "We see them fearing us just as we fear them." So they drew near to the humans and afflicted them with insanity and madness. That is the meaning of God's saying: "And indeed, there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they increased them in burden."

His (Exalted is He) saying: "Our foolish one"

19001 - From Mujāhid regarding the saying: "And that the majesty of our Lord is exalted," he said: His remembrance. And regarding His saying: "And that our foolish one used to say," he said: It is Iblīs.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "Men from mankind"

19002 - From Kardam ibn Abī al-Sāʾib al-Anṣārī (may God be pleased with him) who said: I went out with my father to Medina for a need, and that was when the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) was first mentioned in Mecca. The night overtook us at the place of a sheep herder. When the middle of the night arrived, a wolf came and took a lamb from the flock. The shepherd jumped up and said: "O master of the valley, I seek the protection of your neighborhood." A caller, whom he could not see, cried out: "O Sarḥān (wolf), let it go!" The lamb came running until it entered back into the flock. Then God revealed to His Messenger in Mecca: "And indeed, there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn," up to the verse.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "Among us are the righteous"

19003 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "And among us are the righteous, and among us are those otherwise," he says: Among us are the Muslim and among us is the polytheist. "We were of divided ways," he said: Various opinions.
