His (Exalted is He) saying: "a heap of sand, pouring down (kathīban mahīlan)."
19023 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Abū Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, [saying] Muʿāwiyah narrated to us from ʿAlī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding His saying: "a heap of sand, pouring down," he said: The flowing sand. And regarding His saying: "a painful retribution (akhdhan wabīlan)," he said: Severe.
His (Exalted is He) saying: "The heaven will break apart thereby (al-samāʾu munfaṭirun bihi)."
19024 - Through the chain of ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding His saying: "the heaven will break apart (munfaṭirun)," he said: Filled thereby, in the Abyssinian language.
19025 - Through the chain of Mujāhid, from Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding "The heaven will break apart thereby," he said: Heavily burdened and weighed down.
19026 - Through the chain of al-ʿAwfī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding "will break apart (munfaṭirun) thereby," he said: Meaning the splitting of the heaven.
His (Exalted is He) saying: "what is easy of it (mā tayassara minhu)."
19027 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, from the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace), [regarding the verse]: "so recite what is easy of it," he said: One hundred verses.
