His statement, the Almighty: "Woe to the defrauders."
19178 - Jaʿfar b. al-Naḍr b. Ḥammād narrated to us, Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAmr b. Murrah, from ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥārith, from Hilāl b. Ṭalq, who said: While I was walking with Ibn ʿUmar, I said: "Who are the people in the best state and the most perfect in measuring: the people of Makkah or Madīnah?" He said: "They are entitled to that. Have you not heard Allāh saying: 'Woe to the defrauders'?"
His statement, the Almighty: "Indeed, the record of the wicked is in Sijjīn."
19179 - From Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both), who said: "Sijjīn is in the lowest of the earths."
His statement, the Almighty: "No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning."
19180 - From some of the Companions, that he heard the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) saying: "Whoever kills a believer, a sixth of his heart turns black. If he kills two, a third of his heart turns black. And if he kills three, the stain covers his heart, and he no longer cares whom he kills; that is His saying: 'No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.'"
19181 - From Ḥudhayfah (may Allāh be pleased with him), who said: "The heart is like this, like the palm of a hand; so when he commits a sin, it contracts, then he commits a sin and it contracts, until it is sealed. Then he hears [of] goodness, but finds no way for it to penetrate [the heart]; so when it gathers, it is sealed. Thus, when he hears [of] goodness, it enters his ears until it reaches the heart, but it finds no entrance in it; and that is His saying: 'No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts...' [up to] the end of the verse."
19182 - From Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both) regarding His statement: "ar-rān (the stain)," he said: "It is a sealing (ṭabaʿ)."
His statement, the Almighty: "Is in ʿIlliyyīn."
19183 - From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His statement: "Is in ʿIlliyyīn," he said: "Paradise." And regarding His statement: "Witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh]," he said: "All the inhabitants of the heavens."
