His saying, the Almighty: "And the moon when it follows it"
19335 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding: "And the moon when it follows it," he said: It follows it.
19336 - On the authority of Yazīd ibn Dhī Ḥamāmah, he said: When the night comes, the Lord says: "My servants are covered in My great creation, and for the night there is awe; and He who created it is more deserving to be feared."
His saying, the Almighty: "And the earth and He who spread it"
19337 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding: "And the earth and He who spread it," he said: He divided it. "And inspired it [with conscience of] its wickedness and its righteousness," he said: Between good and evil.
His saying, the Almighty: "And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it. And inspired it [with conscience of] its wickedness and its righteousness"
19338 - On the authority of ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn: A man said: O Messenger of Allāh, tell me: Is what people do today and struggle for something already decreed for them and passed upon them in a pre-existing destiny, or is it regarding what they will face in the future of what their Prophet brought to them and for which the argument is established against them? He said: "Rather, it is something decreed for them." The man said: Then why do they act? He said: "Whoever Allāh created for one of the two positions, He prepared him for its action, and the confirmation of that is in the Book of Allāh: 'And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it. And inspired it [with conscience of] its wickedness and its righteousness.'"
19339 - Abū Zurʿah narrated to us, Yaʿqūb ibn Ḥumayd al-Madani narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Umawī narrated to us, Maʿn ibn Muḥammad al-Ghifārī narrated to us, from Ḥanẓalah ibn ʿAlī al-Aslamī, from Abū Hurayrah, he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) reciting: "And inspired it [with conscience of] its wickedness and its righteousness," he would say: "O Allāh, give my soul its righteousness, and purify it, for You are the best of those who purify it; You are its Guardian and its Master."
