19394 - On the authority of ʿAdī ibn Thābit, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "I asked my Lord for a request that I wished I had not asked Him. I said: O Lord, You took Ibrāhīm as a friend (khalīl) and You spoke to Mūsā directly. He said: O Muḥammad, did I not find you an orphan and give you shelter, lost and guide you, and poor and enrich you? And I expanded for you your breast, removed from you your burden, and raised high for you your mention; so you are not mentioned except that you are mentioned with Me, and I have taken you as a friend (khalīl)."

His saying, the Almighty: "For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease."

19395 - Abū Zurʿah narrated to us, [saying] Maḥmūd ibn Ghaylān narrated to us, [saying] Ḥumayd ibn Ḥammād ibn Khuwār Abū al-Jahm narrated to us, [saying] ʿĀʾidh ibn Shurayḥ narrated to us, he said: I heard Anas ibn Mālik saying: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was sitting and there was a rock beside him, and he said: "If hardship were to come and enter this rock, ease would come until it entered upon it and drove it out." Then Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, revealed: "For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease."

19396 - Al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ narrated to us, [saying] Abū Qaṭan narrated to us, [saying] al-Mubārak ibn Faḍālah narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, he said: They used to say: One hardship will not overcome two eases.

His saying, the Almighty: "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]."

19397 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]," the verse, he said: When you have finished the prayer, stand up in supplication, ask of Allah, and turn to Him with desire.

19398 - On the authority of al-Ḍaḥḥāk, he said: Ibn Masʿūd used to say: Whatever man finishes his prayer, his prayer is complete. That is His saying: "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]." He said: Your finishing from the bowing and prostration. "And to your Lord direct [your] longing," he said: In the request while you are sitting.

19399 - On the authority of Ibn Masʿūd regarding "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]," he said: When you have finished the obligatory prayers, stand up for the night prayer.

His saying, the Almighty: "And to your Lord direct [your] longing."

19400 - On the authority of Mujāhid regarding His saying: "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]," he said: When you have finished your personal affairs, then pray. "And to your Lord direct [your] longing," he said: Make your longing toward your Lord.

19401 - On the authority of Zayd ibn Aslam regarding "So when you have finished, then stand up [for worship]," he said: When you have finished the struggle (jihād), then worship.
