His saying, the Exalted: "Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, that they will not return to them?"

18065 - From Qatada, regarding His saying: "Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, that they will not return to them?" he said: "'Ad and Thamud... and many generations in between... And all of them will be brought before Us," he said: "On the Day of Resurrection."

18066 - Through the path of Harun, from al-A'raj and Abu 'Amr regarding His saying: "That they will not return to them," they both said: "There is no returning in this, nor in the duration of the worldly life."

His saying, the Exalted: "And a sign for them is the night; We strip from it the day."

18067 - From Qatada regarding His saying: "And a sign for them is the night; We strip from it the day," he said: "It is like His saying: 'He causes the night to enter into the day, and causes the day to enter into the night.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "And the sun runs to a resting place for it."

18068 - From Abu Dharr, he said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the mosque at sunset. He said: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where the sun sets?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, it goes until it prostrates beneath the Throne; that is His saying: 'And the sun runs to a resting place for it.'" He said: "So its resting place is beneath the Throne."

18069 - From Abu Dharr, he said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about His saying: "And the sun runs to a resting place for it." He said: "Its resting place is beneath the Throne."

18070 - From Abu Dharr, he said: I entered the mosque when the sun had set, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was sitting. He said: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where this goes?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, it goes until it prostrates before its Lord, then it asks permission to return, and it is permitted to do so. It is as if it were said to it: 'Rise from where you came.' So it rises from its setting place." Then he recited: "And that is a resting place for it." He said: "And that is the recitation of 'Abdullah."

18071 - From 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar regarding the verse, he said: "Its resting place is that it rises, then sins repel it."
