الترجمة · EN

18306 - From Qatada, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "But the jinn have already known that they will be brought [to punishment]," he said: "In the Fire." [And regarding] "Exalted is Allah above what they describe," he said: "Above what they falsely claim." [And regarding] "Except the chosen servants of Allah," he said: "This is Allah's exception for the jinn and mankind" (1).

His saying, the Almighty: "So you and what you worship, you cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him, except him who is to burn in the Hellfire."

18307 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both: "'So you'—O group of polytheists—'and what you worship'—meaning the idols—'you cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him'—meaning you cannot lead them astray. 'Except him who is to burn in the Hellfire,'" he says: "Except for those whom it was written in My knowledge that he would burn in the Hellfire" (2).

18308 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "you cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him, except him who is to burn in the Hellfire," he says: "Neither you nor I lead astray anyone except those whom I have decreed will burn in the Hellfire" (3).

His saying, the Almighty: "And there is no one among us except that he has a known position. And indeed, we are those who line up. And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."

18309 - From Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is not a spot in the heavens the size of a foot but that there is an angel upon it, prostrating or standing. And that is the saying of the angels, peace be upon them: 'And there is no one among us except that he has a known position. And indeed, we are those who line up'" (4).

18310 - From Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "Verily, among the heavens there is a heaven where there is no space the size of a span but that there is the forehead of an angel or his feet upon it, standing or prostrating." Then he recited: "And indeed, we are those who line up. And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."

18311 - From Zayd ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The people used to pray in a scattered manner, so Allah sent down: 'And indeed, we are those who line up,' and He commanded them to form lines" (5).

18312 - From al-Walid ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Mughith, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "They used to not form lines in prayer until it was revealed: 'And indeed, we are those who line up'" (6).

18313 - And Abu Nadra said: "When the prayer was called, Umar would face the people, then..."
