714: 3864: 'Aqabah: 1: Sufyan ibn Husayn, Sulayman ibn Kathir, 'Abd al-Jalil ibn Humayd, and Muhammad ibn Abi Hafsah narrated from al-Zuhri, from Abu Sinan al-Du'ali—whose name is Yazid ibn Umayyah—from Ibn 'Abbas—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, addressed us and said: "O people, Allah has prescribed the Hajj for you." Al-Aqra' ibn Habis stood up and asked: O Messenger of Allah, is it every year? He replied: "If I were to say yes, it would become obligatory, and if it were obligatory, you would not perform it, and you would not be able to perform it. The Hajj is once; whoever does more, it is voluntary."
