: 4436: That: 2: Imam Ahmad said: 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Zuhayr—meaning Ibn Muhammad—narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Malik al-Ashja'i, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who said:
"The greatest misappropriation (ghulul) in the sight of Allah is a span of land. You find two men who are neighbors on a piece of land—or in a house—and one of them cuts off a span from his companion's share. If he cuts it off, it will be placed around his neck from seven earths on the Day of Resurrection."
Recorded by Ahmad (4/140, 202, 5/341), al-Matalib (1406), al-Targhib (3/16), Ibn Kathir (2/130), al-Kanz (24909), and al-Majma' (4/175). He attributed it to Ahmad via two chains of narration, one of which has narrators who are the narrators of the Sahih. 805: 4431: Resurrection: 1: And al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat".

Imam Ahmad said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who heard 'Urwah say: Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi narrated to us, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appointed a man from the Azd, called Ibn al-Lutbiyyah, over the Sadaqah (charity collection). He said: "This is for you, and this was gifted to me." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood upon the pulpit and said: "What is the matter with an agent whom we send to perform a task, and he says: 'This is for you, and this was gifted to me'? Why did he not sit in the house of his father and mother to see whether he would be given gifts or not?
