: 4867: A kind word (ma'rufan): 3: Sa'id ibn Jubayr said in the commentary on this verse: 'They are told: Take, may you be blessed.' It was also said: 'Say along with the provision, I wish it were more than this.'

It was also said: 'There is no need for an excuse alongside the provision; indeed, if nothing is given to them, then the least that can be said is a beautiful word and a form of apology.'

877: 4869: Words (alfazan): 1: Tafsir Mujahid (1/147) and Tafsir 'Abd al-Razzaq (1/150).

: 4870: Behind them (khalfahum): 2: His saying 'they should fear' is the response to 'if' (law). The implication is: If they were to leave them, they would fear. It is permissible to omit the 'lam' in the response to 'if' (law).

Scholars have differed in the interpretation of this verse. A group said: This is an admonition to guardians, meaning: Do for orphans what you would love to be done for your own children after you. This was stated by Ibn 'Abbas.

878: 4875: Appropriate (sadid): 1: I say: This detailed explanation regarding these verses is correct, based on his (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) statement to Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: 'Indeed, that you leave your heirs wealthy is better than that you leave them destitute, begging from people.'

Authentic (Sahih). Agreed upon. Narrated by al-Bukhari (4/3, 5/87, 225, 7/155, 8/99), Muslim in (Al-Wasiyyah, hadith/5), al-Nasa'i (6/242, 243), Ahmad (1/173), al-Bayhaqi (6/268, 269, 7/467), al-Baghawi (1/149), al-Tamhid (6/391), Sa'd (3/1/102), Mansur (330), and Al-Irwa' (3/416).

: 4879: The reformer (al-muslih): 2: Surah al-Baqarah, verse: 220.

879: 4881: The verse (al-ayah): 1: Narrated by Ibn Hibban (2580), Al-Targhib (4/357), and Ibn Kathir (2/195).
