The evidence for this is the saying of the Almighty: "But their faith could not benefit them when they saw Our punishment." This indicates that their faith would have benefited them before the descent of the punishment, and the same applies to these two.

As for the sorcerer among the dhimmi (protected non-Muslims), it is said: He is to be killed. Malik said: He is not to be killed, unless he kills through his sorcery, in which case he must ensure restitution for what he has perpetrated, and he is to be killed if he commits an act for which he was not granted a covenant.

See: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (1/143).

193: 1016: His companion: 1: Muslim narrated in his Sahih from the hadith of al-A'mash from Abu Sufyan, from Talhah ibn Nafi', from Jabir ibn Abd Allah - may Allah be pleased with him - from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "Indeed, Satan places his throne upon the water, then he says such-and-such. Iblis says: 'By Allah, you have done nothing.' Then one of them comes and says: 'I did not leave him until I separated him from his spouse.' He said: 'So he brings him close, draws him near, embraces him, and says: "Yes, you are the one."'

: 1018: And the Exalted: 2: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (2/143). And he said: "The cause of separation between spouses by sorcery is what is conjured up to the husband or the wife regarding the other in terms of bad appearance, character, or the like, or knots, or hatred, or similar causes necessitating separation. 'Al-mar'' refers to the man, and its feminine form is 'imra'ah'; both of them can be dualized but not pluralized, and Allah knows best."

194: 1020: Allah: 1: Al-Tirmidhi narrated from the hadith of Isma'il ibn Muslim from al-Hasan from Jundub al-Azdi that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The prescribed punishment (hadd) for the sorcerer is a strike with the sword."
