(6/16) on the authority of Hammad ibn Salamah, who said: Thabit narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Suhayb, and he mentioned it.

The Hadith has a supporting narration (shahid) from the hadith of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, marfu'an (attributed to the Prophet), similar to it. It was recorded by al-Tayalisi (211) with an authentic (Sahih) chain of narration. It also has a concise supporting narration with the wording: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer; Allah does not decree anything for him but it is good for him." Its chain is authentic, and all its narrators are trustworthy except for Tha'labah, though Ibn Hibban (1/8) declared him trustworthy and gave him the kunya Abu Bahr, the freed slave of Anas ibn Malik.

Ibn Abi Hatim said: (1/1/464) on the authority of his father: "His hadith is sound (salih al-hadith)." It has other paths (turuq) recorded by Abu Ya'la (2/205) and al-Diya' in "al-Mukhtarah" (1/518).
