May Allah bless him and grant him peace: "This knowledge will be carried by the trustworthy ones of every generation (khalf)." Al-Mishkat (248), Al-Kanz (28918), Al-Masir (5/305), Ibn 'Adi (1/152, 153, 3/904), Al-Qurtubi (1/36, 7/311), Bidayah (10/337), 'Uqayli (1/9, 10), and Al-Mawdu'at (1/31).

1607: 8493: the Christians: 1: Tafsir Mujahid: (1/249).

: 8495: to them: 2: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (2/261).

1608: 8503: they take it: 1: Al-Qurtubi said in the interpretation of this verse: Al-'arad is the goods of this world, with a fathah on the ra'. And with a sukun on it, it refers to wealth other than dirhams and dinars. The allusion in this verse is to bribes and wicked earnings.

Then He condemned them for their delusion in saying: "We will be forgiven," noting that they are in a state where, should a second opportunity arise, they would commit it again; thus, they persisted in their sin while being deluded by the prospect of forgiveness. Only he who desists and regrets will say: "We will be forgiven."

Some scholars said: The meaning of "and they studied what is in it" is that they erased it by abandoning its practice and understanding, from the expression: "The wind wiped out (darasat) the traces," meaning it erased them. A deserted house and a deserted pasture are those whose traces have been erased and effaced.

: 8510: and the Christians: 2: Tafsir Mujahid: (1/249).

1610: 8516: by their covenant: 1: Surah al-Nisa, verse: 154.

: 8516: their heads: 2: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (2/260).

1612: 8528: the Fire: 1: Hasan (sound). Narrated by Abu Dawud (H/4693), Al-Tirmidhi (H/3075), Ahmad (1/44).
