Then they passed by the cave and saw spider webs on its entrance, so they said: "If he had entered here, there would not be spider webs on its entrance." So he remained in it for three nights.

It was said to him: "If you had done this while the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was alive, he would have rejoiced for you." He said: "I had two securities, one of which has passed and the other remains." Allah, blessed and exalted be He, said: "And Allah would not punish them while you are among them" (Quran 8:33)—this is one security. And the second is: "And Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness" (Quran 8:33).
