1817: 10346. Lil-fuqara' (For the poor): 1: Ibn Kathir said in the interpretation of this verse: When the Almighty mentioned the objection of the ignorant hypocrites to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and their criticizing him regarding the distribution of alms, He clarified that it is He (Allah) who divided them, explained their ruling, and undertook the matter Himself; He did not entrust their division to anyone else, so He apportioned them to those mentioned. As narrated by Imam Abu Dawud in his Sunan from the hadith of Abd al-Rahman ibn Ziyad ibn An'um—and in it is weakness—from Ziyad ibn Nu'aym, from Ziyad ibn al-Harith al-Suda'i, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I pledged allegiance to him, then a man came and said: "Give me from the alms." He said to him: "Indeed, Allah was not satisfied with the judgment of a prophet or anyone else regarding alms until He judged them Himself, so He divided them into eight categories; if you are one of those categories, I will give you." Narrated by Abu Dawud (H/1630), al-Bayhaqi (4/174, 7/6), al-Jawami' (4975), al-Kanz (16497, 37075), Ithaf (4/99), al-Tabarani (5/303), Sharh al-Sunnah (6/90), Ibn Kathir (4/105), al-Qurtubi (8/168), Ma'ani (2/17), al-Daraqutni (2/137), and al-Irwa' (3/353).

1818: 10356. Yas'al (He asks): 1: Let us mention a hadith concerning the poor. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Alms are not permissible for a wealthy person, nor for a strong, able-bodied person." Hasan (sound).
