[Those] for whom charity is forbidden, as established in Sahih Muslim on the authority of 'Abd al-Muttalib ibn Rabi'ah ibn al-Harith that he and al-Fadl ibn al-'Abbas went to ask the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to appoint them as collectors of charity. He said: "Indeed, charity is not permissible for Muhammad nor for the family of Muhammad; it is merely the impurities of the people."

: 10378. Al-Islam (Islam): 2: Ibn Kathir said: Those whose hearts are to be reconciled are of various types. Among them is he who is given so that he may embrace Islam, just as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave Safwan ibn Umayyah from the spoils of Hunayn, even though he had attended it while he was a polytheist. He said: He kept giving to me until he became the most beloved of people to me, after having been the most hated of people to me.
Imam Ahmad said: Zakariyya ibn 'Adi narrated to us from Ibn al-Mubarak from Yunus from al-Zuhri from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib from Safwan ibn Umayyah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave me on the day of Hunayn, and he was the most hated of people to me, yet he kept giving to me until he became the most beloved of people to me.
