: 12665: The liars (al-kadhibun): 5: Ibn Kathir said in his commentary on this verse: Allah the Exalted informs about those who disbelieved in Him after faith and discernment, and whose chests were expanded to disbelief and who found serenity in it, that He is angry with them because of their knowledge of the faith and their subsequent turning away from it, and that they will have a great punishment in the Hereafter because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter; thus, they committed what they committed of apostasy for the sake of the world. Allah did not guide their hearts and establish them upon the true religion, so He sealed their hearts, and they do not comprehend with them anything that would benefit them, and He sealed their hearing and their sight so they do not benefit from them; nor did they avail them anything, for they are heedless of what is intended for them.
