: 12836: Hope (amalan): 3: His saying, the Almighty: "Better in hope" (khayrun amalan), meaning: better in hope than the possessor of wealth and children without righteous deeds. There is nothing in the adornment of this world that is truly better, but it was stated in the form of His saying: "The companions of Paradise, that day, are better in settlement (mustaqarran)." It is also said: It is better in reality than what the ignorant assume to be better in their estimation.

: 12838: A tree (shajarah): 5: The previous source.

: 12839: Thereby (bidhalika): 6: The previous source.

2366: 12840: He caused his destruction (tuhlika): 1: This has preceded in [Surat] "Al-Baqarah" in full. Abu Ja'far al-Nahhas said: There is a question raised regarding this verse: What is the meaning of "So he defied (fasaqa 'an) the command of his Lord"? Regarding this, there are two opinions: The first—which is the school of Al-Khalil and Sibawayh—is that the meaning is: corruption (fisq) came upon him when he was commanded and he disobeyed, so the cause of the corruption was the command of his Lord, as you say: "I fed him out of (an) hunger." The other opinion, which is the school of Muhammad ibn Qutrub, is that the meaning is: he deviated (fasaqa) by rejecting the command of his Lord.

: 12841: And thus (wa-kadha): 2: Al-Manthur: (401).

: 12842: The world (al-dunya): 3: The previous source: (5/402).

: 12843: The Jinn (al-jinn): 4: The previous source: (5/402).

: 12845: The Hour (al-sa'ah): 5: The previous source: (5/402).

: 12847: The sky (al-sama'): 6: The previous source: (5/402).

: 12848: For Adam (li-adam): 7: The previous source: (5/402).

2367: 12850: His family (ahlihi): 1: Al-Manthur: (5/403).

: 12851: In number ('adadan): 2: The previous source: (5/403-404).

: 12852: The Almighty (ta'ala): 3: The previous source: (5/403-404).
