angels but they say, "What is this foul soul?" They say, "So-and-so," by the ugliest of his names by which he was called in the world, until they reach the sky with it and they request the opening of its gate for him, but it is not opened for him. Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) read: "The gates of heaven will not be opened for them." (Tafsir Ibn Kathir: 2/213).

Narrated by al-Nasa'i (1/260), Ibn Hibban (733), and al-Hakim (1/352, 353) via the path of Qatadah, from Qasamah ibn Zuhayr, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: [He then mentioned it]. Al-Qurtubi said in his "Tafsir: 4/2644": Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—mentioned among the favors He bestows upon the people of Paradise the removal of rancor from their chests. The removal (al-naz'): extraction. The rancor (al-ghill): the deep-seated hatred in the chest. Its plural is ghilal. That is: We have removed in Paradise whatever rancor was in their hearts in the world. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Rancor is at the gate of Paradise, like the kneeling of camels, which Allah has removed from the hearts of the believers."
