due to people gathering in it. It comes from the expression 'I collected water' (qaraitu al-ma') if you gathered it. It has already been discussed in [Surat] al-Baqarah in full.

1525: 8746: That (dhalika): 1: It is established in the Sahih: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer; Allah does not decree a decree for him but it is good for him. If he is afflicted by hardship, he is patient, and that is good for him; and if he is visited by ease, he is grateful, and that is good for him." Narrated by Ahmad (5/24), Abu Ya'la (2/200), al-Darimi (2/318), al-Tayalisi (211), and al-Sahihah (Hadith/147-148).

1526: 8747: So that (kay): 1: It was stated in the Hadith: "Trials will continue to befall the believer until he emerges pure of his sins; and the hypocrite is like the donkey, it does not know why its masters tied it, nor why they let it loose." Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (2/233).
