Al-ratq (the closing) is the opposite of al-fatq (the opening); one says, "I closed the opening (ratuqtu al-fatq) until it was closed (irtataqa)," meaning it became unified. From this comes the word "al-ratqa'" for a woman whose private parts are naturally joined.
