: 18199: Devils: 5: The saying of the Almighty: "Its fruit, as if it were the heads of devils." It is said: It means the devils themselves; He likened it to their heads due to their ugliness, and the heads of devils are imagined in the souls even if they are unseen. Among this is their saying regarding everything ugly, "It is like the form of a devil," and for every good form, "It is like the form of an angel." Al-Zajjaj and Al-Farra said:

Devils are snakes that have heads and crests; they are among the ugliest, most wicked, and lightest-bodied of snakes.
