He only mentioned her, though she is not one of the Prophets, to complete the mention of 'Isa—peace be upon him. For this reason, He said: "And We made her and her son a sign for the worlds," and He did not say "two signs" because the meaning of the speech is: We made their state, their affair, and their story a sign for the worlds. And "ahsanat" (guarded) means: she practiced chastity and refrained from immorality. It is also said that what is meant by the "farj" (chastity/opening): the opening of the garment; that is, no suspicion attached to her garment, meaning she was pure of garments.
