It is narrated from 'A'ishah - may Allah be pleased with her - that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no deed performed by the son of Adam on the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr) more beloved to Allah than the shedding of blood. It shall come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its hooves, and its hair, and the blood reaches a place of honor with Allah before it falls to the ground, so let your souls be pleased thereby."
