2673: 15033: Ruined (būrā): 1: Regarding His saying: "they were a people ruined (būrā)," meaning: perished. Ibn 'Abbas said this, derived from al-bawār, which is perdition. Abu al-Darda' - may Allah be pleased with him - said, upon overlooking the people of Homs: "O people of Homs! Come toward a brother of yours who is a sincere advisor." When they gathered around him, he said: "What is the matter with you that you feel no shame? You build what you do not inhabit, you gather what you do not eat, and you hope for what you do not attain. Those who came before you built massive structures, gathered slaves, and hoped for far-off things; yet their gathering became ruin (būrā), their hopes became illusions, and their dwellings became graves." So His saying: "būrā?" means perished.

2675: 15045: Marketplaces: 1: Muslim recorded from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The most beloved places to Allah are their mosques, and the most detested places to Allah are their marketplaces."
