2854 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi reported to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding: "Not upon you is [responsibility for] their guidance"—he said: If he is one of the poor Muslims, give him his due of charity.

[The third interpretation]

2855 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhallim reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "Not upon you is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills"—[he said]: We do not burden Muhammad, peace be upon him, with their guidance, except that he should convey His message. And Allah said to Muhammad: "Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills."

His saying, the Exalted: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you"

2856 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you"—he said: As for the expenditure, he has clarified its recipients.

2857 - al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhallim reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you"—he said: The expenditure of the believer is for his own self.

2858 - Abu 'Abd Allah b. Ahmad al-Dashtaki mentioned, my father reported to us, 'Ata' b. 'Azwan reported to us, Muhammad b. Mis'ar reported to us, he said: I asked Sufyan b. 'Uyaynah about the saying of Allah: "And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you"—he said: It is charity.
