[His saying, the Exalted: "And I inform you of what you eat."]
[The first interpretation]
3546 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And I inform you of what you eat," [meaning] what you ate the previous night of food. And the like of this has been narrated from Sa'id b. Jubayr.
[The second interpretation]
3547 - Al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding "And I inform you of what you eat," he said: I inform you of what you eat from the table (al-ma'idah). Ma'mar said: Qatadah mentioned it from Khilas b. 'Amr, from 'Ammar b. Yasir.
His saying, the Exalted: "And what you store in your houses."
[The first interpretation]
3548 - Through him (the same chain), from Qatadah, regarding "And what you store in your houses," he said: And what you store of it, meaning: of the table (al-ma'idah). He said: He had taken a covenant from them regarding the table when it descended: that they should eat and not store anything. So they were turned into swine when they stored (it) and acted treacherously. That is the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: "So whoever disbelieves after that from among you, then I will punish him with a punishment with which I do not punish anyone among the worlds." Ma'mar said: Qatadah mentioned it from Khilas b. 'Amr, from 'Ammar b. Yasir.
[The second interpretation]
3549 - Hajjaj b. Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "And what you store in your houses," he said: What you have hidden of it, 'Isa (Jesus) says this. Abu Muhammad said: The like of this has been narrated from Sa'id b. Jubayr.
[The third interpretation]
3550 - Muhammad b. 'Ammar narrated to us, Abu Salamah reported to us, Abu 'Awanah reported to us, from Isma'il b. Salim, from Sa'id b. Jubayr: That 'Isa used to say to a boy in the school: "Your family has hidden such-and-such food for you, so will you feed me from it?" So that is His saying: "And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses."
