His saying: 'And in the Hereafter [that which is] good'.

There is a difference of opinion regarding its interpretation, falling into several aspects. One of them:

[The first aspect]

1884 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas Muhammad b. Hayyan narrated to us, 'Abbad b. al-'Awwam informed me, Hisham informed me, from al-Hasan, regarding: 'And in the Hereafter [that which is] good', he said: The 'good' in the Hereafter is Paradise. It has been narrated from Mujahid, al-Suddi, Muqatil b. Hayyan, and Isma'il b. Abi Khalid, the like of this.

The second aspect:

1885 - Al-Hasan b. Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: 'And in the Hereafter [that which is] good', he said: In the Hereafter, [it is] well-being (afiyah).

His saying: 'And protect us from the punishment of the Fire'

1886 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, 'Abd al-Salam, meaning: ibn Shaddad Abu Talut, narrated to us, he said: I was with Anas, and Thabit said to him: "Your brethren would love for you to pray for them." So he said: "O Allah, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." They spoke for a while, and when they wished to stand up, they said: "O Abu Hamzah, your brethren wish to depart, so pray to Allah for them." He said: "Do you want me to split matters for you? If Allah has given you in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protected you from the punishment of the Fire, then He has given you all good."

1887 - My father narrated to us, Duhaym narrated to us, Muhammad b. Shu'ayb narrated to us, Yahya b. al-Harith informed me, al-Qasim, meaning Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, narrated to me, he said: Whoever is given a thankful heart, a remembering tongue, and a patient body, then he has been given [that which is] good in this world and [that which is] good in the Hereafter, and has been protected from the punishment of the Fire.

His saying: 'Those will have a share of what they have earned'

1888 - Ahmad b. Sinan narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Muslim al-Batin, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: A man came to him and said: "I have hired myself to a group of people, on the condition that I serve them, and they perform Hajj for me." Ibn 'Abbas said: "This is [permitted] from the religion; Allah says: 'Those will have a share of what they have earned' and 'Allah is swift in account.'"

اختلف في تفسيرها على أوجه فأحدها:

[الوجه الأول]

١٨٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، أَخْبَرَنِي هِشَامٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ: «١» وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً قَالَ: الْحَسَنَةُ فِي الآخِرَةِ: الْجَنَّةُ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَمُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

١٨٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أبنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «٢» أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، فِي

قَوْلِهِ: وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً قَالَ: فِي الآخِرَةِ عَافِيَةً.

قَوْلُهُ: وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

١٨٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلامِ يَعْنِي: ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ أَبَا طَالُوتَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَنَسٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ: إِنَّ إِخْوَانَكَ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ تَدْعُوَ لَهُمْ. فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ. وَتَحَدَّثُوا سَاعَةً حَتَّى إِذَا هُمْ أَرَادُوا الْقِيَامَ قَالُوا: يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ: إِنَّ إِخْوَانَكَ يُرِيدُونَ الْقِيَامَ، فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ، قَالَ:

تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ لَكُمُ الأُمُورَ، إِذَا آتَاكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَوَقَاكُمْ عَذَابَ النَّارِ، فَقَدْ آتَاكُمُ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ.

١٨٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا دُحَيْمٌ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي نحيى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ يَعْنِي أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: مَنْ أُعْطِيَ قَلْبًا شَاكِرًا وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا وَجَسَدًا صَابِرًا، فَقَدْ أُوتِيَ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَوُقِيَ عَذَابَ النَّارِ.

قوله: أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا
