His saying the Exalted: "For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned."
[The first interpretation]
5227 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned," meaning: From what the parents and close relatives have left. He says: For the male is like the portion of two females.
And the second interpretation:
5228 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "For men is a share of what they have earned" of sin, "and for women is a share of what they have earned" of sin.

5229 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others." He said: The men said: We wish to have two rewards in the reward. And the women said: We wish to have a reward like the reward of the men who are martyrs, for we are not able to fight, and if fighting were decreed for us, we would have fought. So Allah refused that, but He said to them: "And ask Allah of His bounty," He will grant you the deeds, and it is better for you.
5230 - My father narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Jarir ibn 'Abd al-Hamid informed us, from Layth, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And ask Allah of His bounty." He said: It is not the goods of this world.
