4126 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib and Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman informed me that they heard Abu Hurayrah say: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would rise from the recitation in the dawn prayer and perform takbir, he would raise his head and say: "Allah hears those who praise Him; our Lord, to You be the praise." Then he would say while standing: "O Allah, save al-Walid ibn al-Walid, Salamah ibn Hisham, 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, and the oppressed among the believers. O Allah, intensify Your severity upon Mudar, and make it years like the years of Yusuf. O Allah, curse Lihyan, Ri'l, Dhakwan, and Usayyah, for they disobeyed Allah and His Messenger." Then it reached us that he abandoned that when there was revealed: "You have no decision in the matter, or He will forgive them or punish them, for they are indeed wrongdoers."
4127 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding "You have no decision in the matter," meaning: You have no portion of judgment over My servants except for what I have commanded you regarding them.
His saying, the Exalted: "Or He will forgive them"
4128 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Hajabi narrated to us, Khalid ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Ajlan narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pray against four people, then Allah the Exalted revealed: "You have no decision in the matter, or He will forgive them or punish them, for they are indeed wrongdoers." He said: Allah guided them.
4129 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding "You have no decision in the matter, or He will forgive them," he said: Or He will forgive them by My mercy; if I will, I shall do so.
His saying, the Exalted: "Or punish them"
4130 - And through the same chain, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "You have no decision in the matter, or He will forgive them or punish them," meaning: You have no portion of judgment over My servants except for what I have commanded you regarding them. Or I will forgive them by My mercy, if I will, I shall do so, or I will punish them for their sins, for it is just.
