مجلد 4 · صفحة 117قوله تعالى: للحرب

الترجمة · EN

Mujahid: "Every time they kindled a fire for war, Allah extinguished it," he says: Every time they plotted a plot, Allah extinguished the fire and the plot.

[6586] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Every time they kindled a fire for war," he said: The Jews.

His saying, the Almighty: "For war."

[6587] al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "A fire for war," [meaning] the war of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: "Allah extinguished it."

[6588] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "Every time they kindled a fire for war, Allah extinguished it," he says: Every time they gathered their resolve upon something, He dispersed it and extinguished their envy and their fire, and He cast terror into their hearts.

[6589] It was mentioned from Kharijah ibn Mus'ab, from Yunus ibn 'Ubayd, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Every time they kindled a fire for war, Allah extinguished it," he said: Every time the low-class [people] gathered to kill the Arabs, Allah humiliated them.

[6590] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding "Every time they kindled a fire for war, Allah extinguished it," [he said]: You will never find the Jews in any land except that you will find them among the most humiliated of its people. Islam came when it came, while they were under the hands of the Magians (Zoroastrians), the most hateful of His creation in punishment, so they were described by their deeds—the deeds of evil.

His saying, the Almighty: "And they strive on earth [to cause] corruption."

[6591] And by the same chain from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they strive on earth [to cause] corruption, and Allah does not like the corrupters," [saying]: Those are the enemies of Allah, the Jews.

His saying, the Almighty: "And if only the People of the Scripture had believed."

[6592] And by the same chain it was mentioned from Qatadah, regarding "And if only the People of the Scripture had believed," he said: Believed in what was revealed.
