Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, (regarding) "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel upon the tongue of David," he said: They were cursed in the Gospel upon the tongue of Jesus, son of Mary, and they were cursed in the Psalms upon the tongue of David.

[6663] Muhammad ibn Sa‘d ibn ‘Atiyyah informed me in writing: My father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from his father, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel upon the tongue of David and Jesus, son of Mary," he said: They were cursed by every tongue; in the era of Moses in the Torah, they were cursed; in the era of Jesus in the Gospel, they were cursed; in the era of David in the Psalms, they were cursed; and in the era of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the Quran, they were cursed.

[6664] Muhammad ibn ‘Ammar ibn al-Harith al-Razi narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far al-Razi narrated to us, from Husayn, from Abu Malik al-Ghifari, regarding His saying: "Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel upon the tongue of David and Jesus, son of Mary," he says: They were cursed upon the tongue of David and so they became monkeys, and they were cursed upon the tongue of Jesus, son of Mary, and so they became swine. Similar to this was narrated from Mujahid.

His saying, the Almighty: "That is because they disobeyed and were transgressing."

[6665] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Ibn al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa‘id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "That is because they disobeyed and were transgressing," (he said): Avoid disobedience and the prohibited, for there was a king from the kings before you among the people.

His saying, the Almighty: "They would not prevent one another from any wrongdoing they committed."

[6666] Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in writing: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying, "That is because they disobeyed and were transgressing," he said: Their disobedience was that "they would not prevent one another from any wrongdoing they committed; how wretched was that which they were doing."

His saying, the Almighty: "You see many of them becoming allies to those who disbelieved. How wretched is that which their souls have put forth for them."

[6667] Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, "How wretched is that which their souls have put forth for them," he said: It commanded them."
