‘Ata’, ‘Ikrimah, Mujahid, al-Suddi, Makhul, Abu Ja‘far, Muqatil ibn Hayyan, al-Hakam, and ‘Abdah ibn Abi Lubabah, said: A garment.
[The Third Aspect]
[6728] Al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki‘ narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Ibrahim, from Ibn Sirin, that Abu Musa wrote: Two garments from the woven products of Bahrain. It was narrated from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib, in one of his two opinions, and al-Hasan, in one of his two opinions, something similar to that. Both said: Two garments.
His saying, the Almighty: "...or the freeing of a slave."
[6729] Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "or the freeing of a slave," he said: Meaning whichever one is small or great [i.e., young or old] from the People of the Scripture, it is permissible.
His saying, the Almighty: "...or ...or."
[6730] Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Whatever is in the Qur’an with "...or... or..." then it is [a matter of] choice within it.
[6731] Usayd ibn ‘Asim narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Hafs narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Layth, from Mujahid, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Everything in the Qur’an with "...or... or..." then one is given the choice. As for [the case where it says] "whoever cannot find [the means]," that is [referring to] the first [option].
It was narrated from ‘Ikrimah, Mujahid, ‘Ata’, al-Hasan, Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, al-Dahhak, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar to that.
His saying, the Almighty: "But whoever cannot find [the means]."
[6732] Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "But whoever cannot find [the means]," meaning: Whoever cannot find any of these three.
