[His saying: And guidance to the people]
[The first interpretation]
7599 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, al-Thawri narrated to us, from Bayan, from al-Sha'bi regarding His saying: "Guidance," he said: Guidance from misguidance.
The second interpretation:
7600 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: His saying: "Guidance," he said: A light.
The third interpretation:
7601 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Guidance," he said: An explanation.
His saying: "You make it into papers"
7602 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: His saying: "Papers which you disclose and conceal much," he said: The Jews.
7603 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah: His saying: "You make it into papers which you disclose and conceal much," they are the Jews and the Christians.
His saying, the Almighty: "And you were taught what you did not know, you nor your forefathers."

7604 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan ibn Salih narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah: His saying: "And you were taught what you did not know," he said: These are the polytheists of the Arabs.
[The second interpretation]
7605 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah: His saying: "And you were taught what you did not know, you nor your forefathers," he said: They are the Jews and the Christians, a people to whom Allah gave knowledge, but they did not emulate it, did not adopt it, and did not act upon it, so Allah rebuked them for that action of theirs.
The third interpretation
7606 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: Ibn Kathir informed me, from Mujahid: "And you were taught what you did not know, you nor your forefathers," Mujahid said: This is for the Muslims.

٧٦٠٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ:
قَوْلَهُ: هُدًى قَالَ: نُورٌ.

٧٦٠١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ (هُدًى) قال تِبْيَانٌ.
قَوْلُهُ: تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاطِيسَ
٧٦٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا شِبْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ:
قَوْلَهُ: قَرَاطِيسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِيرًا قَالَ: الْيَهُودُ.
٧٦٠٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: قَوْلَهُ: تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاطِيسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِيرًا هُمُ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آباؤكم

٧٦٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: قَوْلَهُ:
وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لم تعلموا قال: هؤلاء مشركوا العرب.

٧٦٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ:
قَوْلَهُ: وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ قَالَ: هُمُ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَوْمًا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ عِلْمًا فَلَمْ يَقْتَدُوا بِهِ، وَلَمْ يَأْخُذُوا بِهِ، وَلَمْ يَعْمَلُوا بِهِ، فَذَمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي عَمَلِهِمْ ذَلِكَ.

٧٦٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: هَذِهِ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ.
