7900 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed us in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwazi narrated to us, Shayban ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others," he said: "Allah only makes people allies of one another based on their deeds. The believer is the ally of the believer wherever he may be, and belief is not by adornment or wishful thinking. By my life, if you act in obedience to Allah and do not know the people of obedience to Allah, that will not harm you; and if you act in disobedience to Allah and take the people of obedience to Allah as allies, that will not benefit you in anything."

7901 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid al-Wasiti narrated to us, Marhum ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-'Attar narrated to us, he said: I heard Malik ibn Dinar saying: "I read in the Psalms: 'I will take revenge on the hypocrite by the hypocrite, then I will take revenge on the hypocrites all together.' This is found in the Book of Allah, the saying of Allah: 'And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others for what they were earning.'"

7902 - Abu Zayd al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "And thus will We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others," he said: The wrongdoers among the jinn and the wrongdoers among mankind.

His saying, the Exalted: "O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you?"

7903 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "O company of jinn and mankind," he said: "There are no messengers among the jinn; the messengers are only among mankind, and the warning is among the jinn." He then recited: "And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners."

His saying, the Exalted: "And for all are degrees from what they have done."

7904 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Degrees," he said: Meaning virtues and mercy.

7905 - My father narrated to us, 'Isa ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-Durays informed us, he said: I heard Ya'qub saying: Ibn Abi Layla said: "They have a reward," meaning for the jinn, and we found the confirmation of his statement in the Book of Allah: "And for all are degrees from what they have done."
