His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire, and never will you find for them a helper."

[6153] Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Khaythamah, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud regarding "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire," he said: "[They will be] in coffins of iron, locked upon them."

[6154] Al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Isra'il reported, from 'Asim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah regarding "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire," he said: "The lowest depths are houses with doors that are closed over them, then the fire is kindled from beneath them and from above them."

[6155] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire," meaning: "In the lowest part of the Fire."

[6156] My father narrated to us, Abu Salamah narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Zayd reported, from al-Qasim ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, that Ibn Mas'ud was asked about the hypocrites, and he said: "They are placed in coffins of fire which are then locked over them in the lowest part of the Fire."

His saying, the Almighty: "Except for those who repent and correct [themselves]."

[6157] Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad who said: Hudhayfah came to us and stood over our heads, and said: "Hypocrisy has descended upon those who were better than you." I said to him: "How can that be, while Allah the Almighty says: 'Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire'?" He said: "Then when they dispersed, no one remained but me, so he threw a pebble at me, and I went to him, and he said: 'They, when they repented, were better than you.'"

[6158] Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj and 'Uthman ibn 'Ata', from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas who said: "In Surat al-Nisa', 'Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire,' then He granted an exception and said: 'Except for those who repent and correct [themselves].'"
