8892 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "Until a term which they were to reach": A specified number of their days that they had.

His saying, the Almighty: "When they break [the covenant]"

8893 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Amr ibn Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: Allah says: "Until a term which they were to reach," when they break what they had given of covenants.

His saying, the Almighty: "So We took retribution from them and drowned them in the sea"

8894 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: Meaning His saying: "So We took retribution from them and drowned them in the sea," meaning Allah took them for their sins and drowned them in the sea.

His saying, the Almighty: "And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We have blessed"

8895 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' told us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Isra'il told us, from Furat al-Qazzaz, he said: I heard al-Hasan saying: The eastern regions of al-Sham (the Levant) and its western ones.

8896 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding "the western ones, which We have blessed": That which We have blessed is al-Sham.

His saying, the Almighty: "And the word of your Lord was fulfilled"

8897 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, Hammad ibn Zayd told us, from 'Umar ibn Yazid, from al-Hasan, he said: If the people, when they were afflicted by their ruler with something, would call upon Allah, Allah would likely lift it from them. But they rushed to the sword, so they were left to it. By Allah, they never brought about a good day at all. Then he recited: "And the word of your Lord was fulfilled, [the one of] kindness, upon the Children of Israel because they had been patient; and We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were constructing and what they were erecting."

8898 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And the word of your Lord was fulfilled, [the one of] kindness": The victory of the people of Moses over Pharaoh, Allah's establishing them in the land, and what He inherited for them from it.
