to Moses on the Mount were solid and smooth. When Allah appeared to Moses on the Mount, the Mount became level and the mountains cracked, and so cracks and caves were formed.
8944 - It was mentioned from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Sufyan al-Thawri regarding His saying: "But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He made it level," he said: The mountain sank and fell into the sea, and it continues to disappear.
8945 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Abu al-Tahir told us, Ibn Wahb reported to us, Yahya ibn Ayyub reported to us, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Zahr who said: Sulayman al-A'mash said: Al-dakk (the level ground) is the flat land, meaning His saying: "He made it level."
His saying, the Exalted: "And Moses fell unconscious."
[The first interpretation]
8946 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And Moses fell unconscious," he says: He fainted, but his soul was in his body. It was narrated from al-Suddi and Sufyan similarly.
And the second interpretation:
8947 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And Moses fell unconscious," meaning: dead.
His saying, the Exalted: "But when he recovered, he said: Glory be to You."
8948 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas who said regarding His saying: "But when he recovered, he said": Due to the greatness of what he saw: "Glory be to You," the glorification of Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, that anyone should see Him, just as Moses was informed.
His saying, the Exalted: "I have repented to You."
8949 - And through the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "I have repented to You," he says: I have returned from the matter I was upon, and an error had occurred from me, "and I am the first of the believers."
8950 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Abu Nu'aym told us, from Sufyan, from 'Isa al-Jurashi

لِمُوسَى عَلَى الطُّورِ صُمًّا مَلْسًا، فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى اللَّهُ لِمُوسَى عَلَى الطُّورِ صَارَ الطُّورُ دَكًّا وَتَفَطَّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ، فَصَارَتِ الشُّقُوقُ وَالْكُهُوفُ.
٨٩٤٤ - ذُكِرَ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ «١» الثَّوْرِيِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا قَالَ: سَاخَ الْجَبَلُ فَوَقَعَ فِي الْبَحْرِ فَهُوَ يَذْهَبُ بَعْدُ.
٨٩٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَنْبَأَ بن وَهْبٍ أَنْبَأَ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَحْرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ الأَعْمَشُ، الدَّكُّ الأَرْضُ الْمُسْتَوِيَةُ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا

٨٩٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَخَرَّ مُوسَى صَعِقًا يَقُولُ: قَدْ غَشِيَ عَلَيْهِ إِلا أَنَّ رُوحَهُ فِي جَسَدِهِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَسُفْيَانَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٨٩٤٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَخَرَّ مُوسَى صَعِقًا أَيْ مَيِّتًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ سبحانك
٨٩٤٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ: لِعَظِيمِ مَا رَأَى: سُبْحَانَكَ تَنْزِيهُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَرَاهُ أَحَدٌ كَمَا أَخْبَرَ مُوسَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ
٨٩٤٩ - وَبِهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ يَقُولُ: رَجَعْتُ، عَنِ الأَمْرِ الَّذِي كُنْتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَكَانَ مِنِّي خَطَأٌ، وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
